The Davao City Durians, hailed as the undefeated champions of the Davao Region Athletics Association (DAVRAA) as they have held the crown for four consecutive years, are set once again to retain their title as the over-all champion in the coming 2008 DAVRAA Meet on February 10-16, 2008 at Mati City, Davao Oriental.
In their quest to emerge as this year’s champ, the strong team composed of 426 young athletes and their coaches and headed by Educational Supervisor II Mr. Jimmy Cerojales of the Davao City Division, is undergoing an intensified training at the Davao City National High School.
The DAVRAA Meet (formely SMRAA - Southern Mindanao Region Athletics Association ) has been consistently dominated by the athletes from Davao City both in the elementary and secondary level from 2003-2007.
Likewise, the athletes from the Davao Region has continually ruled the national competition- Palarong Pambansa - for several years too.
This sports activity under the umbrella of the Department of Education aims to search future sports heroes that would someday represent our country in the higher sports competition.
