Davao City Durians retains DAVRAA title

The Davao City Durians proved once again that they are the strongest team in Region XI as they emerged as the over-all champion in the recently concluded DAVRAA 08 Meet held in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
The Durians, headed by delegation manager, Mr. Jimmy Cerojales retained both championship in the elementary and secondary levels.
Durians dominated in archery, arnis, chess, swimming, athletics, table tennis, taekwondo, basketball, sepak takraw and most of the ball games.
Host Davao Oriental just came in third runner up after promising to grab the title from the Durians while Davao del Sur ended up first runner up and Panabo City landed second runner up in the secondary level.
Davao del Sur came in first runner up while host DavOr improved their standing by coming in second runner up and Compostela Valley as third runner up in the elementary level.
After the awarding ceremony held in Mati Sports Complex, delegation head, Mr. Cerojales threw a victory party for the athletes in the delegation’s home for a week in Mati Comprehensive High School.
Successful Davao Durians will once again prepare for another sports battle, Palarong Pambansa 2008 which will be held in Palawan sometime in April 2008.

Congratulation to Davao City athletes. It really shows that Dabawenyos are good. What more if they have right facilities and equipments for training. I hope the construction of the sport complex will start soon. For the sake of our young athletes.
